Geography:

Location: Middle East, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, Lebanon and Turkey.

Area: total: 185,180 sq km.

Climate: mostly desert
- Along the coast: hot, dry, sunny summers (June to August) and mild, rainy winters (December to February).
- In Damascus, the winters may be cold, with periodic snow or sleet.
